The Improve Your School project won the Smart Cities competition

The ‘Improve Your School’ project won 1st place in the education and youth category in the ‘Smart Cities 2024’ competition, which aims to promote concrete projects and long-term strategies for comprehensive SMART CITY models.

The idea for the ‘Improve Your School’ project was initiated by Lukáš Dubec, the then Deputy Minister for the Environment and Participation.  The project gives high school students the chance to implement their ideas on how to improve the environment of their schools. Students can develop their skills, such as presentation skills and project management while receiving financial support from the South Moravian Region to implement their innovative proposals.

‘If we want future generations to be made up of engaged citizens capable of not only criticizing but also constructively proposing changes, we need to teach them how to do that,’ said Dagmar Peřinová, the JINAG participation team leader in charge of the project, in an interview with the Smart City Innovations Institute.
