The conference "Time Together Makes Sense" strengthened Slovak-Czech cooperation in the field of civil society

The conference "Time Together Makes Sense", which took place on October 21, 2025 in Senica, brought together dozens of representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations, local governments, regional agencies, local action groups, and community leaders from Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The event was organized by the Regional Development and Innovation Agency (KIRA) in cooperation with the Czech agency JINAG (South Moravian Innovation Agency). Its aim was to strengthen cross-border partnerships and present new opportunities for cooperation in building a strong, active, and resilient civil society.

Non-governmental organizations play a key role in promoting civic engagement, working with young people, providing education, and delivering services to vulnerable groups, from children to seniors.

At the event, the Trnava Self-Governing Region presented its long-term efforts to improve conditions for the civic sector's functioning – support for community initiatives, systematic networking of actors, and the development of cross-regional cooperation. The presence of Slovak and Czech partners, in particular the JINAG agency from the South Moravian Region, was a great benefit to the conference. Cross-border cooperation was one of the main topics of discussion. Participants agreed that common challenges – from community development and social innovation to youth work – require joint solutions.

KIRA Deputy Director Marek Krnáč praised the intensity and prospects of mutual partnership:
"I am glad that we are exchanging experiences with our partners from the South Moravian Region. Our experience with creating InfoPoints opens up new opportunities for further cross-border cooperation."

The conference provided an opportunity not only to exchange know-how but also to establish new contacts between Slovak and Czech organizations that plan to jointly develop leisure activities, community services, and programs for young people and seniors.

The event was part of a project focused on the development of civil society in the Trnava and South Moravian regions, supported by the European Union through the Interreg SK–CZ 2021–2027 program and the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatics of the Slovak Republic.

The project strengthens regional cooperation, builds professional capacity, connects civil society actors, and creates sustainable partnerships that transcend the borders of both countries.
