Youth for Časnýř

  • Participation

The "Youth for Časnýř" project was born from a simple idea. If we want our communities to remain good places to live in the future, young people must be an integral part of them—not just as "recipients of services," but as active contributors. As part of the project, we are therefore creating a space where young people from individual communities can voice their opinions, share experiences, and, most importantly, develop their own ideas for improving their communities.

Why?

This initiative is important because it gives young people a real opportunity to influence what happens in their community, rather than just passively watching. As a result, communities gain a better understanding of their needs, concrete and meaningful ideas for improvement emerge, and people’s connection to the place where they live is strengthened. The result is a more vibrant and functional community where people want to stay.

What?

The goal of the project is to engage young people in community affairs, help them identify their own issues and needs, support them in developing and implementing their ideas, and, over time, build a functional platform for long-term youth involvement (e.g., Youth Councils).

It is not merely about gathering opinions, but about ensuring that young people gain the experience that their ideas carry weight and can actually be implemented.

How?

The project is being implemented gradually in the individual municipalities of the Časnýř voluntary association of municipalities.

1. Motivational Meetings
In the first phase, motivational meetings are held with young people, with the following objectives:
  • to introduce the project,
  • to find out how young people perceive their municipality,
  • to identify topics that interest them,
  • and reach out to those interested in getting involved.

The meetings include interactive activities, group work, and discussions about what young people like about their municipality and what they would like to change.

2. Follow-up working meetings
The motivational meetings are followed by further meetings where work becomes more concrete:
  • topics are selected that make sense to develop further,
  • young people jointly propose specific solutions,
  • and the first project plans gradually take shape.

In this phase, the project moves from “ideas” to concrete steps.

3. Project Development and Implementation
The selected ideas are then further developed:
  • their form is refined,
  • opportunities for implementation are explored,
  • and municipal representatives and other partners are involved.

In some cases, these may be smaller, quickly implementable activities (e.g., community events); in others, they may involve longer-term topics (e.g., public spaces, municipal services, etc.).

4. Long-term youth engagement
The long-term goal of the project is to create:
  • stable groups of active young people in individual municipalities,
  • a platform for their regular meetings,
  • and, gradually, structures that will enable systematic cooperation with the municipality (e.g., Youth Councils).

What does this mean for people?

The "Youth for Časnýř" project offers several key benefits:

For municipalities
  • they receive direct feedback from young people,
  • they gain a better understanding of their needs,
  • they can work with specific proposals,
  • they strengthen community life and young people’s connection to the municipality.
For young people
  • they gain experience in participating in public life,
  • they learn to articulate and advocate for their ideas,
  • they see that their actions can have a real impact,
  • they build a connection to the place where they live.

Current progress

The project is currently in the phase of:
  • holding informational meetings in individual municipalities,
  • follow-up working meetings,
  • and the gradual development of the first concrete projects.
In some municipalities, concrete proposals are already emerging that could move into implementation, and at the same time, groups of young people are forming who want to continue the work.
