On January 19, 2026, the Champion of Healthy Cities, Municipalities, and Regions award was ceremoniously presented at the Czech Senate, and the South Moravian Region was among the winners.
This prestigious award is given to local governments that have long and systematically:
- involved the public in decision-making
- strategically planned regional development
- promoted health, quality of life, and sustainable development
- shared their best practices with others
The "Champions" group represents the highest level of the Healthy Cities League, which has been operating since 1998 and annually recognizes true leaders among cities, municipalities, and regions.
In 2025, two regions were among the winners: the South Moravian and Vysočina Regions.
Our participatory activities, such as the Improve Your School project and, in particular, HackaTEEN, which took place last year at the URBIS fair, contributed significantly to this award. With its focus on sustainable development and quality of life, this competition fulfilled the format's objectives and enabled participation by pupils and students from all over the Czech Republic.
We would like to thank everyone who contributes to the development of our region – municipalities, organizations, experts, and citizens. It is thanks to this cooperation that we are creating a region where life is good.
