Protecting the soil, protecting the future: the Climate Action Plan for the South Moravian Region
South Moravia is facing increasing extreme weather events such as droughts, floods and soil erosion. These changes threaten the environment, the economy, and the quality of life in the region. In response to these challenges, the county has decided to develop a Climate Action Plan (CAP) to prevent the negative impacts of climate change and strengthen the county's resilience.
In preparing the CAP, we drew inspiration from the experience of the Plus Change project, which aims to promote sustainable land use. Healthy soils play a key role in the resilience of landscapes to climate change. Therefore, the CAP will also focus on measures that improve soil quality and strengthen its ability to retain water, essential for adapting to changing climatic conditions. Understanding the past is also key to developing a comprehensive plan to shape a more sustainable future. Exploring the historical narratives and factors that have influenced land use in the country is an integral part of the JINAG approach.
Representatives of all key sectors, from farmers to entrepreneurs to citizens, prepare the CAP. Their ideas and experience are precious. Moreover, the meeting promotes cooperation and the establishment of new partnerships. On 21 May, the fourth meeting took place at the Impact Hub.
We can create a plan to bring real change and ensure a sustainable future for our region.
